BootP by AudioCodes Ltd is a lightweight utility that implements the Bootstrap Protocol (BOOTP) to bring AudioCodes devices online and streamline their initial provisioning. It listens for BOOTP discovery messages from newly powered or factory‑reset devices and responds with predefined network parameters such as IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and the address of a configuration server. When paired with a TFTP server, it can also direct devices to retrieve configuration files or firmware images for automated staging.
BootP is commonly used in labs, pilots, and recovery scenarios where devices don’t yet have an IP address or where DHCP is not available. Administrators map device MAC addresses to IP settings and expedite first‑time setup for AudioCodes gateways, ATAs, and other supported products, enabling faster, repeatable provisioning with minimal hands‑on intervention.
